The Angels Realm
Wonderous being,
Spirit of pure light,
Wings of feathers
soft and white,
Halo shining
gold and bright,
Our guardian through
the long dark night.

There are nine classes of angels divided into three spheres. The first sphere contains the Seraphim, Cherubim and Thrones. The Seraphim are the highest order of angels. They are also called "the burning ones" because they radiate pure light. The Cherubim were originally depicted as having four wings and four faces. However they are now more commonly known as cherubs, those chubby babies with wings. The Thrones also called "the many eyed ones" are usually depicted as fiery wheels.
The second sphere contains Dominions, Virtues and Powers. The Dominions watch over the duties of other angels. The Virtues known as "the brilliant" or "shining ones" perform miracles and acts of heroism. The Powers keep the universe in balance.
The third sphere contains Principalities, Archangels and Angels. The Principalities also called "princes" are the guardians of citys and nations. The Archangels carry important messages to humans. The Angels are the celestial beings closest to humans. They are our personal guardian angels.
Four of the best known angels are Michael, Gabriel, Raphael and Uriel. The -el ending in many angel names means "radiant one" or "shining being".Angels have inspiried countless works by artists and poets.Although most angels in paintings and books are depicted as female, it is believed that most are actually genderless or male.Probably the greatest example of angel art is the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel painted by Michelangelo.
Angels have been with us down through the ages. One way to tell if an angel has been near, is if you suddenly get the unexplained scent of roses, pine or sandalwood. So if someday you smell roses for no apparent reason, you'll know your angel is near.

If you too would like to be "touched by an angel"
just follow this one to find out how.
"Angels are here to
guide us, guard us,
warn us, comfort us,
teach us or to just be
a friend and companion."
Bernard Ward
Guiding the Way
Two children are hurrying home through a dark pine forest. As always when they go to visit their grandparent's house in the woods, they have eaten a delicious meal, played with the baby goats, and listened to grandmother tell them an exciting story. They have started their return trip much to late. Now night falls rapidly, and bright flashes of lightning pierce the blustery sky ominously. As if this weren't frightening enough, there is a roaring stream that the children must cross, and the rickety wooden bridge looks as if the wind could blow it away.
But for those who can see-and believe-help is near. The small boy cannot see the beautiful guardian angel looming behind him, so he cannot comprehend that he is safe.He turns to his older sister. She is wise enough to recognize and to believe in her guardian angel. Not only is she comforted; her strong belief gives her the power to comfort her brother-and others in need.
Beautiful and benevolent angels to protect and guide us when we are troubled-haven't we all on occasion hoped and prayed this might be so? "Guiding the Way" is an expression of this universal wish for otherwordly help, and a reminder that there is always someone there to watch over you.
