PUFFKINS TAG INFORMATION

Specific Tag Variations

Magic bar

We have noticed some differences in the color of the insides of both 1st and 2nd generation tags. This seems to be a somewhat common occurance among the older dark purple tags. We have heard of white with blue lettering, light purple with black or white lettering and some that are completely blank inside! Also, the shade of red used for the heart on the front of the tag is also different among the 1st and 2nd generation tags. Some of the 'red' hearts appear to be almost orange or a peach color.
Click here for a picture of one of these variations.(3-1-99)

**Please note: The variations listed below include just a few of the many tag misprints on the 1st and 2nd generation Puffkins tags. Many of these have been corrected on the 3rd generation tags. Be sure to check your tags before making a purchase to make sure you are getting what you want!
***Addendum to the above note: The poems on the third generation tags for Benny, Chomper, Fetch, Honey, Lucky, Nutty, and Paws are showing up again with the same mistakes as they had on some of the earlier generation tags. There may be others as well.(12/22/98)
(Puffkins listed alphabetically)

AUSSIE
(03/98) - On the 1st generation and 2nd generation tags the poem reads 'sometimes LIKE to ponder' when it should read 'sometimes LIKES to ponder'. The 3rd generation tags (new lavender tags) appear to be correct.

CASEY
(08/13/98) - On the first production run of Casey the poem on the tag referred to Casey as a 'she'. Since only male Cardinals are red Swibco decided to change the poem on the tag to refer to Casey as a 'he'. All the new tags will be 'gender correct'.

DINOS
Thousands of dinos were shipped with misprinted tags: Pickles can be found with Dinky's poem and name on his tag, but the style # 6632 is correct.
Pickles can be found with the wrong style # on his tag, but with the correct name and poem. The correct style # is 6632, but his tag has 6633.
Dinky can be found with Pickles' poem and name on his tag, but the style #6633 is correct.
Dinky can also be found with the wrong style # on his tag, but with the correct name and poem. The correct style # is 6633, but his tag has 6632.

When buying, selling or trading your dinos use caution. This is not just tag switching. These are misprintings on the tags and could effect the value of the particular dino. The new dino tags appear to be printed correctly.

GUS
(04/98) - The first two lines of Gus' poem on the 1st and 2nd generation tags do not match the poem on the collector's list or the poem posted on the Swibco site. The 1st and 2nd generation tags read:

Gus is the biggest moose you'll ever know,
he eats and eats 'til he can eat no more.

The collector's list and the poem posted on Swibco's site read:

Gus is the biggest moose around,
he eats and eats not gaining a pound.

The poem on the new lavender (3rd generation) tag should match the poem on the collector's list.**
(6/20/98) - We've heard from a Puffkins collector that both versions of Gus' poem have been seen on the new lavender 3rd generation tags. (Thanks, Kim)

HALLOWEEN '98 PUFFKINS

LANCASTER
On the original dark purple tags there were many variations on the spelling of 'rhyme' in Lancaster's poem (rythme, rhgme, rngme). The letter 'g' was also left off of the word 'gladly' on some tags. The new lavender tags appear to be printed correctly.
(09/27/98) - Lancaster's 3rd Generation tag is showing up with 'rhyme' misspelled also. So far it's been spotted with 'rhyme' misspelled as 'rythme'.

LILY
Leap Year birthday(2/29) and Regular birthday (2/28). Lily's tag was an intentional tag variation.

MAX
(06/08/98) - The word 'dark' is missing from Max's poem on some of the original (2nd generation) dark purple tags. The poem is correct on the new lavender 3rd generation tags.

MAGIC and SPIKE
(05/14/98) - There is a 'Disney' image overlaying the poem on some of the swingtags on Magic and Spike. Magic has been seen with the 'DIS' part of the name showing on the tag, where Spike has the 'NEY' part on his tag.

MOOSELTOE
(10/15/99) - Mooseltoe's name on his swing tag is spelled 'Moosletoe' although he was announced on the Swibco site and in all promotional flyers as 'Mooseltoe'. Even the Official Puffkins Collector's Guide has his name spelled 'Mooseltoe'. The error occurred when the tags were printed. His name was intended to be spelled 'Mooseltoe'. Since the Christmas Puffkins are limited editions and have already been sent to retailers no changes will be made.

PAWS
(06/17/99) - It has been brought to our attention that 3rd generation Paws with either nose variation can have either version of the poem on the tag.
(05/23/98) - There are two versions of Paws with 3rd generation tags. There is Paws with a pale, fuzzy pink textured nose and Paws with the original shiny, pink smooth nose. The poems on the tags are different depending on the nose variation.
On the pale, fuzzy pink nose Paws the poem matches the poem on the collector's list where the second half of the first line reads:
'who can't seem to shake it away.'
On the shiny, pink nose Paws the poem is the older version, the same one that is seen on the 1st and 2nd generation dark purple tags. On these tags the second half of the first line reads:
'can't seem to shake it in anyway.'
The word 'too' is also missing from the next line of the poem on the shiny, pink nose Paws.

(12/97) - The word 'scaredy' is spelled 'scardy' on some of the older dark purple tags.

QUAKSTER
(05/23/98) - Quakster's swing tag has been seen with style #6627. The name and poem are correct. Quakster's style number should be #6613. #6627 belongs to Henrietta the hippo.
