June 27 ~ Day 10
Or: Carol is Sick, Lunch at Spike's, Radio antennae and the LODESTAR Project

Well, we were *supposed* to be taking a Geology tour with Carol Hogsett, but apparently, she got sick:( Instead, we headed up to FHO to work on webpages on the computers up there and help set up the inteferometer and radio antennae. However, part way through, it began to rain, and work on the pad got packed up.
I spent some time looking at the pictures that have been uploaded onto the web. We had lunch a Spike's - while it wasn't the same as the random midnight dinners as in tradition, lunch was okay, too:o) We got tour of Milagro - it's this giant pond with photometric sensor tubes that sense the photons given off by cosmic rays:o)
There are some funny bugs here - funny brownish grasshoppers that make awfully loud clicking noises when the jump up and fly around. We also finished setting up the antennae and people are taking turns watching background noise on the band of waves we're going to be using later this week. Corrie and Donna have been sunbathing - Corrie's shoes have been hidden on random parts of the pad;) She'll have fun searching for em when she wakes up;)
Later, we moved around some cement blocks that were to be the start of a phased array. We strung some yarn between em to make sure they were all level and so the cars wouldn't run through the area.

We then went to the museum for the talk on Lodestar. Basically, it was this random sales pitch about some other projects they were working on besides the planetarium in the museum. They were talking about this Enchanted Skies Park where people could go out and look at the stars, etc.
We had Dinner at the Hill Diner which stayed open a little longer to feed us:o) There was some more cool sing-a-long music - Yellow Submarine, Sixteeen Candles, Stand by Me, etc.) Corinne made a fun castle out of Galen's creamer packets. I made some origami with sugar packet and napkins to add to it:o)
On the way back, Owen and then JW and Steve decided to climb through the back of the van. Owen sat upside down with glasses on him once, and then the second time, he was balanced in some random way and we joked about him flying;) Ahh... what random hysteria;)
