I made merchie on game 69(stop giggling! Actually, I think whoever made up that must have a really sick mind...of course, maybe I'm just upset cuz I'm a cancer I don't like to think of my astrological sign in that way...) Anyway, I think I did a sol pc by msitake since that's where I happened to be :::chuckle::: I soon figured out how to do pc's for other place and spent a while giving out pcs for the traders. I soon gained much respect for all the other merchies - I never realized that it cost money to do pcs. Even tho it was only 100igs, after doing an hour of them, it takes a little dent outta your pocket:o)
Unactive, a fellow Merchie, helped me start my company. He brought me to Cactus in Qued and lent me money to start a company and introduced me to Stasia01, then Thane of Santa. Both are gone now...:::sniffle::: I later payed Un back(he had been saving up for a spybeam, I recall). Stasia gave me some facs... I bought a company but didn't have money for facs or a ware...she kindly lent some to me, I remember feeling really awful about bugging her like that since she had to be going soon....I had facs with her all of my FO life:o) :::misses her dearly::: She eventually left, I remember she was going to tell me why after her wedding with Riolobox...but she never got to tell me and I think Rio's left now, too...If anybody reading this has any idea what happened to em, please e-mail me:o) :::brushes away a tear::: She was awfully helpful - she gave me great facs and I remember a convo with her...game 422 according to my logs:o) It was while online was still down and she was wanting me to get a planet soon...she gave me a tip to make sure I didn't have any spaces in my planet name;) Her planet was supposed to be...oh, I don't remember the city now - Santa Maria or something...there are too many San or Santa cities here in CA;) She also suggested having quite a few names ready since if an object had that name or anything like that, I couldn't have it. I didn't have a problem with Ev - it being only two letters and only planets could have two-letter names...I remember Jaime having a problem...he wanted Jade and Avalon, I recall...but those were taken before he made PO...I thought Temposs was pretty neat,tho...if only I could remember what it stood for;) She said not to edit my planet because of all the planets getting lost in the WB at the time...I don't see why everybody hates the Workbench...I think its lots of fun...of course, I've never admitted that;) But I never listened to that piece of advice as you will see later....
I remember getting factories on Nair, Centaur, Nuke, Civilization, Fineland, Hell and a few others...I remember the night I got facs on Centaur - Coreyracer and Annavia were there...Corey offered me some facs..but I think I was full...I miss Corey and Ann lots...:::sniffle:::
I had quite a few friends in Qued and hung out there for a while...:::recalls several parties and quite a few times when she had brokenspacebarsyndrome...Ifoundhavingbrokenspacebarsquitefun.Ittookawhiletogetusedtotypinglikethis,butitwassomethingthatkindaexcerisedyourbrainalittle:o) Some of my freinds there were FourSkys, Area51Res, ChazMan385, BAberson,Happi777,Bldin, REscano134, Jdspark, BlkCondor, JWofCA, Chryys, Cytoplasma Oh yeah, Unactive and Stasia, of course...I think I'll remember FourSkys and Area most, tho...I wonder what's happened to them...
I had quite a fun time on channel 5 and 6 during my FO days, also...some people I remember from there are Mavryck555, JaimeD2, Frog674...oh, there must be a gazillion otherz...:::sighs:: of course, I don't remember a thing now...ack - maybe I'm getting old :::giggle:: 1500 is pretty old I guess;)(games of course)
Well, for some reason I wandered over to Backdraft...I haven't hardly been to Qued since. There was one time when a bunch of Quedians were having a party on Snark that I joined...and I've wandered into the duchy and just listened into the comms a few times...
Eventually, Backdraft became my home...I have too many friends there to list;) But I eventually made JP...and that's when I began snark...(and I am not a snarkaholic, Mesher!...oh, maybe I am, but...) Only it wasn't Snark then...it was just the JP puzzle. I remember fighting Monty a few times, helping various people gather objects...Jaime and Knight being some of them....I don't think they ever finished before the puzzle broke...but now its back, so.....in fact, I remember making several alts during free webfed just to open the mirror and have parties in the Snark bar...:o) But my alts are gone now, and with my luck I'll never find a couple poor people while I'm on to try again :::laugh:::
:::sighs::: It's awfully hard to write about this time in my Fed life - it's the time when I had the most fun and so much stuff happened so I miss it a lot....
Hmm...I noticed I've been jumping around a lot. But Merchie and JP were really similar for me with the exception of Snark. I think it was at Merchie that I attended my first Fed event. I don't go to events as often anymore...My first event was Fedpardy and will always be my favorite, although I've become busy on Tuesday nights and now can't attend.... I don't enjoy it as much anymore...its so different now...but I can't explain it all that well...One thing I've noticed - I can't argue with the MC about the question that much anymore:) I used to have a wonderful time arguing with Tick...:::chuckles::: But now its just whatever's on the answer sheet. Of course, I've been busy so I'm a bit rusty now;) I was gone from payfed for a month and then I had OM World Finals to handle and when I got back to events, they all changed....
Some other events I enjoy are Scramble, Scavenge, HideandSeek and Mag Cup..:::sniffles::: Oh, I miss Mag Cup... I used to not be able to participate in that one much because I was always busy Thursday nights. I got a chance to be in the last one, I believe....:::sniffles::: That was 2nd to Fedpardy when I could join in....Team Flag is fun, although I haven't tried that one for a while. I've tried Seek and Find and Guess My Secret...but every time I do one of those, I think of Mag Cup and start getting all sad again....
Anyway, back to my FO days...I enjoy PO, but I think I'll always be an FO at heart:o) I was a Merchie for about 80 days. I remember when they changed cycles from 10 days to 20 days... TSIA had her stats maxed by 80 days...which amazed me - I was only about 1/2 way there;) GWERK eventually maxed my stats for me :::sniffle::: I didn't know him well, but he sounded like a great guy and I'm gonna miss him...but we were playing hideandseek and he was giving out a 500 meg prize...and that's what maxed my stats...I think that was at JP, tho....
Speaking of stats, I remember the days where you'd have to wait hours on end to get hold of a puzzle piece:o) Good thing it wasn't like *really* old Fed where you needed to do the puzzle again everytime you needed more stats:o) I'm awfully glad Zoyra got the token for me...I would a hated wandering around for the coin or sitting in line for the spanner. I got lucky and found the LV one night immediately as I wandered into the caves. And of course, the barbells are always there. I did the intell puzzle while you still needed the puzzle piece. I don't remember exactly how long I waited for it...somewhere around 7 or 8 hours I think. Well, I remember having to wait til 2 in the morning. I remember in the afternoon or so, I was sitting and waiting with MauiSpirit...she was a GM and so she needed the piece to get maxed stats and promote:o) She got it, but ended up using it wrong. Since I was only a Merchie, I let her go at it again....Luckily, she didn't screw up twice;) I think we had to wait 4 hours for it that time cuz of all the lag. Anyway, later Live4Maui joined...or was he there earlier? Wellz, anywayz...we soon ended up breaking out sleeping bags and s'mores (and chocolate!) and setting up a little camp fire as we waited:o) I remember one person wandering in and saying something to the effect that the acid/beaker was his - of course we immediately objected since we had all been waiting hours on end for it. It didn't appear since it was still recycling of course, so he eventually left. Well, like I said, I eventually got the piece later that night/morning. You know - in the times when there were still lines for puzzle pieces, I remember often going to where the lines were just to talk with the people waiting- I learned that you met all sorts of spiffy people there:o)
Speaking of 4 hour recycling times, Unlimited AOL also meant unlimited lag and unlimited crashes:o) We'd joke about the lag over the comms quite frequently. And anytime Fed seemed to go slower than usual and it wasn't my screen freezing, I'd immediately pop into one of the Fed Chat rooms - if there were more than 5 or so people in there, I'd know it was a crash:o) Crashes used to last for about an hour, so I suppose I did spend a lot of time in the chatrooms:o) I generally don't like chatting - on AOL anyway. But the Fed chat rooms were different, of course - you didn't walk in there and have people not talking except for a few people shouting out "AGE/SEX CHECK" or "Anybody wanna talk with a (well, whatever type of person they were)". There was always something to talk about - just saying hi to everybody you knew, joking about the crash, the lag, and just general talk about just about anything.
Channel 5 and 6 were both quite active at the time, I remember having quite a few interesting conversations there. But after hanging out in Backdraft a lot, after a while I would stay on Channel 12. I remember having a bunch of broken spacebar conversations...several about Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail and there were always a few convos about facs and how fast some people promoted, and who knows what else:o)
I remember learning internetese through channels 5 and 6 - Btw, WB (welcome back, workboard and workbench:o) ), afk :::realizes she hasn't discussed macros! Ooh - that'll be next:o):::, brb, IMHO....ykw and rtr... GMTA, LTNS, etc.
Macros...yes - I have been caught using a macro:o) I used to use Fednav - I guess that's kinda of a macro...but soon I found I went faster while typing:o) I used to have one of those afk macros...it just typed "gl" every minute...and I got a program that would hit that silly AOL you are idle thing and the 46 minute timer. I used that during the school year cuz I didn't have that much time to be online - I'd set it on while we were gone Saturday mornings for Chinese School (Yuck!;) I've always hated that...) or overnight...although at about 2 in the morning, I'd end up turning off the computer - once my dad heard it running and came into my room and shut it off for me...I didn't want him thinking I was actually staying up on the computer and losing all that sleep - he might've taken my computer away from me for good or something:o)
At FO, I was introduced to the wonderful world of puzzles:o) Puzzles are one of the few things that keep me coming back to Fed. I just wish I had more time to work on them:o) I remember busting my brain on Engoria;) Never solved it,tho...but it was lots of fun. Actually, I really haven't solved that many puzzles...just tried a bunch:o) I got pretty much to the end of Therapy...but I couldn't figure out exactly what I was to give to the guy at the very end. I was quite amazed I even got that far, actually. I did solve Joust and Splatterz and am now working on Temposs (the puzzles go together). however, Jaime and to go and DD :::tickle::: Oh well...I wasn't getting that far, anyway...I've tried everything I can think of to get past this one part and it isn't working yet...hmm...maybe I don't even need to get past that...but it seems like I do....oh, I'll figure it out eventually:o)
Another thing I enjoyed was TTTT parties - I loved all the events and meeting all the people...I eventually got pretty good at running lottos and hideandseeks and other stuff. I remember advertising for quite a few TTTT parties, doing trivia, etc.
Channel 12 was always lots of fun - I had lots of friends in the Alliance and we would have lots of fun talking, laughing and stuff on the comms and on 12...Even when I was staying up really late there were other people on I could chat with:o) :::sighs::: I wish I could just relive those days again....I remember one conversation when Silver made a slip and said something to the effect that I was a guy...maybe it was because I had typoed his name earlier :::chuckle:: I never did find him and get him back for that yet;)
