Tori Amos "From the Choirgirl Hotel". I must admit that I found Tori's last album less than impressive. I was hoping that "Choirgirl" would suprise me, and it did! This has to be one of her best. I love her songs because they truly inspire me. Some of my favorite songs on this CD are "Spark", "Jackie's Strength" (about Jackie Kennedy-Onassis), and "Northern Lad." I have always liked her slower songs the best. I hope a lot of people who aren't fans of hers will go out and pick up "Choirgirl" and see what I am raving about. If you like some of the songs on the album, I would suggest buying her first two after this one. Her first album was "Little Earthquakes" and her second was "Under the Pink". Her third album "Boys for Pele" didn't get to me as much as the others have. If you want to know more about Tori, just Email me and I will do my best to answer any questions!
Since part of my education covers opera I thought that I would share "Lakme" by Delibes with you all. I am sure you have all heard the beautiful female duet from the opera on commercials or in the movies. The opera has some fantastic melodies in it. The opera is performed in French but the libretto is usually provided. The music you hear playing on this page is the Flower Duet from Lakme.
I first discovered Oleta Adams back in 1991 with her debut album "Circle of One". Many of you may recall the song "Get Here" which was on the first album. Oleta Adams is in my opinion the best R&B singer I have ever heard. Her voice... there is something so strong and powerful about it while at the same time it is very soothing. I never get tired of her CDs. Anyone else who owns one of her albums will tell you the same. On "Evolution" her second album (released in 1993), Oleta has emotional songs like "My Heart Won't Lie" (a real tear-jerker), "I Just Had to Hear Your Voice", and "The Day I Stop Loving You." If you want something with heart get an Oleta Adams CD. I promise you will not be sorry. Her other albums include "Circle of One", "Moving On", and her most recient "Come Walk With Me."
