Step 6

 You are now ready to sew the squares you have just finished into rows for the quilt using a 1" seam allowance.  It helped me to stick a post-it note on my machine 1" from the needle as a guide.

Step 7

Sew 5 squares together to form one row.  I flipped my squares so that I had one red, one blue, one red, one blue, etc.  You can put all of one color on one side or stagger them, as I did.  Press seams open on each row as they are finished.

Step 8

Once the rows are completed, begin sewing the rows together.  If you are flipping the squares, continue that with the rows so that you never have two of the same fabric together.  Press open all seam allowances as you go.

Step 9

This shows the right side of the quilt with all the rows sewn together using 1" seams throughout.

 

 

Step 10

This is the back side of the quilt.  We are almost done.  Now it is time to sew a row of stitching all the way around the quilt 1" from the raw edges.  Be careful to keep the seam allowances open as you sew.
