My Parents
My parents (both Hispanic) are William and Faye (Gonzales-Ramon) Duran. They raised
8 children in Denver, Colorado.
My father was born in Pratt, Kansas, to Fernandez (Fred) and Maria de la Luz Duran (Trujillo), during a farm working project. He had 6 brothers and sisters, each of which were born in different states. His Parents, Fred and Maria were both born in New Mexico (Fred, in Sedillo, New Mexico). My Father made his transition on June 15, 1991. My mother was born in Waco, Texas and had 3 brothers and sisters; Cipriano of Corpus Christi; Sophia Acosta of Cleburne, Texas; Pablo of Fort Worth. At the age of 8, both her mother (Blanca) and father (Pablo) passed away in Waco. They both died of tuberculosis...only months apart. After her parent's deaths, my mother lived in several different places in Texas and at such a young age, worked as a farm worker with her brother Cipriano. While living with a distant uncle who owned a restaurant in Texas, she learned to be a wonderful cook. She made her transition on October 30, 1979. Both are interred at Mount Olivet Cemetary in Denver. She was a great lady and Mother. |
