What is the purpose of the list? This list was set up to fill in the gaps that the overseas lists left for those of us who don't live in the United States. The Sew Ozzie list is intended to provide a forum for Australians and New Zealanders to discuss sewing and craft related matters in a manner which reflects the characteristics of our geographical region (e.g.  discussion of craft sources in Australia, craft shows) and to allow people from this region to discuss their craft with others in the South Pacific. Other more general craft related discussions if most welcome.

Who is the list owner?Robyn Bowman. You can contact me at rmbowman@netspace.net.au if you wish.

Who are the members? Most of the members are Aussies and New Zealanders who love to sew and/or undertake other crafts. They are sewing/craft professionals, hobbyists (experts and beginners) , teachers, fashion designers, owners of sewing/craft notions and fabric suppliers and the list goes on.

Can people from other countries join? Yes we are happy for people from anywhere in the world to join the list. However, as most of the Sew Ozzie list members are also members of many U.S. sewing lists and participate in them, there may be little to gain from the overseas membership on the Aussie list. It is also important to us that our list retain and Aussie/NZ flavour and orientation. Should this cease to be the main focus, steps may be taken to set a quota of overseas membership.

How do you join? Send a blank email to sewoz-subscribe@topica.com

How much does it cost?Nothing, just a little of your time.

How do you post mail?Members may post mail to sewoz@topica.com

Etiquette? Generally accepted intenet etiquette applies. Please keep in mind the following:

I own a sewing fabric/notions business. Can I advertise my wares on this list? Yes, but this is restricted to two lines (on a full screen) in your signature file. An example would be:

"Yours sincerely,
Robyn Bowman

Kids Clothes by Robyn. Budget Priced Children's Clothes. New Season Catalogue now available Http://members.tripod.com/~Mal_Robyn/KPAW31.HTM."

If you feel that your business can supply something that another member in looking for, you must email them privately. While an important purpose of this list is to spread information on the availability of certain notions and fabrics within Australia, many of our members supply notions and we want no competition occurring between them within the forum of the list discussion.

You may, if you wish, apply to have a link to your business or personal webpage added to our sewozzie links page by emailing Robyn.  A trader list is also being compiled which will be available to any member in the near future.

Can I get the mail in digest form?Yes,

Is there a mail archive?Yes. Email Robyn for more information.

Is there a regular chat session?Perhaps regular is not exactly how you would describe it, but there is plenty of chat going on at Sew Ozzie. Check out our chat schedule.
