Tony's Story
The Door of Life
Jesus said... I have come that they may have life and have it to the full (John 10;10)
My name is Tony and I was brought up in a religious family and along with my family I
attended mass every Sunday. In my teens I came to the conclusion that this ritual was
tedious, boring and above pointless because God was a stranger to me. I knew of him but
yet I didn't know him. My objection was if there was a crucifixion it had happened along
time ago and was not relevant to today's modern world. I also couldn't understand why
there were so many religions who were strangers to each other yet claimed they worshipped
the same God. I had a lot of questions but no answers.
When I left school I did what was considered normal. Getting drunk, partying and
clubbing all right. D-Jing at various places. Causing trouble at home. Then I met Mick. At
first we were interested in the same type of things but suddenly Mick started to talk
about this person Jesus Christ, like he knew him and about how he was saved. I thought
saved from what? I finally decided that poor Mick was brainwashed or caught up in some
strange cult, so we drifted apart. I continued my life. I had everything a good job,
money, friends, a girlfriend but there was something missing, for I was never content.
The impact that Mick had made really bothered me. The years went by. Then I happened to
meet some school friends who unknown to me were Christians. For the first time I began
seriously to think about Jesus Christ and his love for us ,but more, about his love and
concern for me.
Gradually I allowed his love to seep through my human pride and self-centredness and I
finally asked Jesus to come into my life as my personal Saviour and Lord. I admitted that
I was a lost sinner and that I needed him to take my life of sin. I can tell you as soon
as I handed over my life to him I felt as if a great weight were lifted from my shoulders.
In addition, Jesus has filled my life with joy and love and has given me direction. Yet
the most wonderful thing is that I have been given the key to THE DOOR OF LIFE. That key
is our Lord Jesus Christ who died on the cross for our sins because he loves us, He paid
the penalty for sin and thus reconciles us to God.
For Jesus promises us... Ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and
the door will be opened (Matthew 7:7)
