Brock
Speer
Brock Speer was born in December of 1920. He began singing with Mom & Dad Speer when he was just a young boy and was an active member of The Speer Family all of his life. Brock will always be remembered as one of the most respected figures in gospel music, and, through the years, grew to be one of Southern Gospel's greatest bass singers. He studied voice with Lee Roy Abernathy, and always sang with a great amount of precision and accuracy. This is a skill that Dad Speer instilled in all of his children. He passed that training on to others by teaching voice in the Stamps-Baxter School of Music. Brock was not only a great singer, but he was also a great Christian man. At the 1997 Singing News Fan Awards, Brock was the recipient of the prestigious Marvin Norcross Award at the National Quartet Convention. Brock was a graduate of Trevecca Nazarene University and of Vanderbilt University's divinity school. Brock is a member of the GMA Hall of Fame and of the SGMA Hall of Fame.
