Premarin is an estrogen replacement product produced (mostly in the mid-west of Canada) by Wyeth-Ayerst, a subsidiary of American Home Products. It is made from the urine of pregnant horses -- PRE (pregnant) MA (mares') RIN (urine). It is also called Prempro, Premphase, Prempac. It has unpleasant and possibly unsafe side-effects.
The process for producing this product starts by impregnating horses; then tying them in narrow standing-stalls where they cannot turn around or stretch out to sleep for 6 months; severely restricting their intake of water in order to concentrate their urine; and, catching their urine in a harness setup attached to the horse.
Because these horses must be pregnant in order to produce this product, there are resulting foals. These babies are taken to feedlots, where most are fattened and killed for the European and Japanese meat markets. Babies are starting to be taken live to
Japan, which is highly illegal.
The public relations people for the horsemeat industry The North American Equine Ranching Information Council will tell you that "many babies are sold into loving homes". Define "MANY"! Over 50,000 babies are killed each year. Few of the babies produced are allowed to live. These people will tell you anything to keep their employers, the manufacturers of Premarin, at the peak of their one BILLION dollar a year industry.

By buying the products produced by this company, its subsidiary Wyeth-Ayerst Labs, or any of its other subsidiaries, we are telling these people its okay with us if they are killing these babies and abusing their mothers.
This is not just a women's issue. Men buy the over-the-counter products as well. Please take a minute to consider this before you shop.
One way you can help RIGHT NOW is to copy the letter here. Just click on "here". It will take you to the page, then you print it. Take this two-page letter to your pharmacist and supermarket manager. You won't stop them from selling the products, but they may be willing to post a notice for other customers to read.
If you are a "horse person", take action here against the Premarin industry.
