Answer 6 A Man and His Small Car
I wanted to write a follow up testimony to the previous one least you think that the Lord always answers our prayers and smooths our path beyond the possibility of any bumps.
Sevilla needed to visit a chiropractor for a back adjustment. We had established a good relationship with a man whom we both liked but who practiced in a city twenty miles away. We had an appointment and a driver, however, when he arrived (on time) his car was so small that he, his two sons, Sevilla and I could not all fit into it. As Sevilla could not go by herself, we reluctantly thanked the man and called to cancel the appointment, earning a rebuke for not keeping our appointment from his wife who was the secretary.
As we walked into the apartment, disappointed in spirits,
I was distinctly made aware that Satan was mocking us and our faith.
Did God fail us? No! People fail us but God never fails. God can be described, at least as far as human beings are concerned, as being a paraplegic, for we are his arms and legs, doing or not doing his bidding. He is often compelled to work through sinful men and women who, more often then not, will not do his bidding.
I am not blaming the brother with the small car, for he did warn us, in advance, that it might be too cramped, but I am only making the observation that, in this instance, at least, there wasn’t a backup driver God could call upon to meet our needs.
Did Sevilla ever get to the chiropractor. No!
However, despite our disappointments I can still praise
the Lord, for all things work together for good FOR THOSE WHO LOVE THE
LORD AND ARE CALLED ACCORDING TO HIS PURPOSES.
