DENVER ATWOOD'S HOMEPAGE

EVERYTHING ATWOOD

ENGINEERING STUFF

I have published this page primarily to have somewhere to post my family history for posterity. There are also some links here to some of my favorite places.

I was born and raised in Metter, Georgia. That's in Candler County which was part of Bulloch County until the late 1800's. Metter is about 60 miles West of Savannah, Georgia. I attended Georgia Tech and graduated in 1984 with a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering. I began working for Georgia Power as a cooperative education student at Plant Edwin I. Hatch in 1980 and returned there after graduation.

I have worked for Southern Nuclear for over 18 years and enjoy my work. Some of the topics I am familiar with are: ASME Section XI, BWR (Boiling Water Reactor) Vessel Internals, BWR Shroud Repair, Motor Operated Valve Testing, and most aspects of nuclear power plant operation and maintenance.

My wife, Stephanie, and I have three beautiful boys. They keep us busy and happy. We currently live in Birmingham, AL.
