Morgan County, Georgia -- 

 

"Monday 7th of January 1811 -- The Honorable the Judges of the Court of Ordinary met pursuant to adjournment Present their honors Henry Carleton, Joseph Lane, Wm. Brown.  Purity Rasberry Benjamin Rasberry & Greene Rasberry orphans of Benjamin Rasberry came into open court & choose their guardians when Purity Rasberry choose Sarah Rasberry her guardian and Benjamin Rasberry & Greene Rasberry choose William Mesome (or Mesoms) their guardian Ordered by the Court that the clerk of this court give letters of guardianship accordingly on the guardians giving bonds with Security in the sum of twelve Hundred dollars for each ward. Court then adjourned until the First Monday in February next. Signed Henry Carlton, Joseph Lane, Wm. Brown."
 
 

Note:  Purity Rasberry was  6 years and 8 months old when she appeared in Court to choose her guardian.
