MY COURTING YEARS

love John and I met during one of the most wonderful periods of time. When the war had ended it had left everyone with a great sense of appreciation for life and goodness. It was a time when there were high social standards and trust among all peoples. It was a time when romance was truly a love affair and with respect to our values. A time when men and women honored their gender role and when men respected women and especially "his woman." Courtships in those days were anticipated with feelings of butterflies and skips of a heart beat when seeing each other! *smile*
This is me at about the time that I met the person I later married.

I now will introduce my ~Hero~ John.
Come, let us go meet him. gijj

At this time when I met John, he was then working "seven" days a week on the night shift from 11pm to 7am. Our dating time was very limited and usually we saw each other a few evenings a week for about 3 hours, from 7 to 10:30 PM before he reported to his job at 11. It gave us just enough time to catch the theater and to see those wonderful movie stars of that time. We would want to see every movie that had our favorite Stars. We looked forward for every Saturday evening when we would listen to the best of music and songs as the Top Hits of the week. We would go to the area Ballrooms to dance to our favorite music tunes and especially this one...We had claimed it as...
~OUR SONG~

***SOME ENCHANTED EVENING***

Not long after our meeting, we realized that we had very many things in common and that we were in love. I might mention here, that when we first began our courtship, John bought a beautiful new convertible car, so that, he could "court me" in style.~smile~
We came from a similar background of both growing up on a farm. He was the oldest of ten children and I was the youngest of eight and we shared the same Christian faith. This gave us a very strong foundation for our relationship. We had planned a long courtship in the beginning, but soon we realized a long courtship was not for us. Plans soon began for a wedding and nine months later we were married.
We met in 1949 and we were married in 1950. We have never forgotten this precious and tender time, when I was his angel and he was my loving knight. Since then we have had a full and busy life raising our family. I will let you meet them too.

There is a hand I love to hold, A face I love to see,
There is a voice I love to hear, That means the world to me...
There is a heart, That understands, What I am dreaming of...
And all of these Belong to you The wonderful man I love.
Whatever life may hold in store, I could ask for nothing more Than sharing it with you.

LOVE

Love is patient; love is kind. Love is not jealous, it does not put on airs, it is not snobbish. Love is never rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not prone to anger; neither does it brood over injuries. Love does not rejoice in what is wrong but rejoices with the truth. There so no limit to love's forbearance, to its trust, its hope, its power to endure. Love never fails. There are in the end three things that last: faith, hope and love and the greatest of these is Love

1 Corinthians 13:4-8,13
