USGENWEB site: http://www.rootsweb.com/~kyclay/clay.html from this page I learned that:
Clay County was formed in 1807 from the Kentucky counties of Madison, Floyd and Knox. Clay county is the parent county to six other Kentucky Counties.
Perry - 1821 Laurel - 1826 Breathitt - 1839 - Owsley - 1843 Jackson - 1858 Leslie - 1878
This is a nice page and worth the visit.
Cemetery Listings: http://www.rootsweb.com/~kyclay/cemetery/index/cemeindex.html
Here's a page full of links for census information!
http://www.concentric.net/~spence1/tim/clay/census/census.shtml But checking the 1810, 1820, 1830, 1840 - I didn't find any COOK families!
But I found:
1850 Census at: ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ky/clay/census/1850/sec1.txt - this is not a complete list of everyone in Clay County in 1850.
