From Foreword, p. 5 The Doddses were
weavers in Scotland. As Ireland began to grow flax there was a
large influx of Scotch into Ulster and other North Ireland
proviinces, ibn 1709. Most of the Dodds emigrants to America came
from North Ireland, usually stirred into emigrating because of
religious troubles in Ireland.

- son, Virgil Young; b. November 14, 1848, Boydville, Ky. At 15
he enlisted in the Confederate army. He was paroled at
Gainsville, Alabama, in May 1865. During the Spanish
American war, Gov. Dan Jones appointed Cook as Colonel of
the 2nd Arkansas regiment. In 1866 he located at Grand
Glaze, Jackson county, Arkansas. In 1874 he moved to
Oliphant, also in Jackson county and was in the
mercantile business. In 1884 he moved to Elmo in the Oil
Trough Bottom and became a holder of large farming lands.
In 1908, he built his home in Batesville and lived there
until his death. He was reputed to be the wealthiest man
in Independence county. He was twice married. On June 29,
1871 he married at Jacksonport, Arkansas, to Mildred
Ophelia Lamb. Mildred O. Lamb Cook died in
Batesville, Arkansas, July, 1916. Cooks second wife
was Mrs. Sarah Wise of Forrest City, Arkansas.
They were married at New Orleans, April 28, 1920.He was
commander of the Trans-Mississippi Department Confederate
Veterans.. he died at the home in Batesville, Arkansas,
March 12, 1922.

children in Jackson County, Arkansas:

Neva Cook and Paul Butler married
April 24, 1895. She died Oct. 14, 1903. They had four childreen:

- William Lawrence Butler; b. July 15,
1899; m. Geneva Gutpill July 15, 1922, in Bridgeport,

C. Grammen, May 1923. They have a son, W. C. Grammer, Jr.
