Henderson County, Tennessee
Cook Genealogy
USGENWEB site: http://www.tngenweb.org/henderson/ from this site I learned that Henderson County was legislated into existence in 1821 and organized in 1822. In 1845 a southeast corner strip was given for the creation of Decatur County. In the 1870s, a small tract in the northwest corner was given to Carroll County. In 1882 a large piece of the southwest corner was given for the creation of Chester County. A small tract in the western border was given to Madison County in the 1880s.
Please note that this Henderson County Genealogy site is awesome - it is a must visit - I have only scratched the surface of the great information that they offer.

Obits: from "Crossing the Dark River Henderson County, Tennessee obit 1827 - 1950" by Brenda Fiddler
Cook, Mrs. Joe (The Lexington Progress, May 25, 1906) Mrs. Joe Cook, near Juno, died last Monday. Deceased was a sister of Mr. Will Singleton, night car inspector here.
Cook, James Alexander (The Lexington Progress, Jan. 9, 1925) Born July 6, 1850, the deceased known as "Bud" married Miss Martha Catherine Williams, November 7th, 1872. To this union were born five boys and three girls, all surviving except Tom Cook, the oldest son, who died 29 years ago: J. H., J. G., J. E., and Y. F. Cook; Mrs. Sarah Lemons, Mrs. Maggie Cook and Mrs. Alice McCoy.
Cook, James F. (The Lexington Progress March 20, 1931) The Juno community was saddened last week by the death of James F. Cook, who died March 7th aged 56 years after a long and painful illness extending over a year. He was a good citizen, a faithful memeber for 34 years of the Mr. Gilead Baptist Church, and was known to all his neighbors for a very charitable and pious following of the Christian religion. On December 19th, 1897, he was married to Miss Callie Williams who survives him. He also leaves an aged mother, three brothers Jess, Ed, and Fred Cook; and three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Lemonds [also spelled Lemons], Mrs. Maggie Cook and Mrs. Alice McCoy, besides a number of other relatives and a host of friends. His body was interred at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Cook, Vera Wilson (The Lexington Progress, March 16, 1934) Mrs. Vera Wilson Cook, aged 41 years, wife of Jessie Cook and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Wilson, died Sunday morning near Bargerton. She was married in September 1911, and the four children born to the union survive: Albert, Henry and Robert and one daughter, Maurine. Elder John Page conducted the funeral service held at Mount Tabor Baptist Church, after which the remains were taken to Spring Hill Cemetery for interment.
Cook, Martha Williams (The Lexington Progress, April 2, 1943) Mrs. Martha (Williams) Cook was born May 4, 1851, and died March 24, 1943, at the age of 91 years. On November 7, 1872 she was married to J. A. Cook, who preceded her to the grave ton December 22, 1924. To this union were born five boys and three girls. All survive except Tom Cook, the eldest who died twelve years ago. The other boys are J. G., J. E., J. H., and Y. F. The girls are Mrs. Sarah Ann Lemons, with whom she made her home; Miss Maggie Cook, and Mrs. Alice McCoy. In young womanhood she professed faith in Christ and united with the Baptist Church at Mt. Gilead. Burial was made at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Cook, A. S. (The Lexington Progess, April 1, 1949) Services for Staff Sargent Albert S. Cook were conducted at the grave in pleasant Hill Cemetery near Cedar Grove Wednesday morning. G. Tillman Stewart was in charge of the services. Military honors were carried out by the National Guard, VfW and American Legion. Sgt. Cook, 32, was killed in action in Holland. He entered the service September 16, 1941. He is survived by two brothers, Henry and Robert Cook, and a sister, Mrs. Maurine Douglass, all of near Cedar Grove. His father died about a year ago.
