From that web site, I learned that NELSON County was created 29 Nov 1784 from part of Jefferson County and  named for Thomas NELSON, signer of the Dec of Independence. Bardstown is the county seat. Additionally, it was an important Roman Catholic settlement area.  Numerous links are available from this site.

Kybrenda@aol.com is looking for info on William COOK m. Kate ?, they had at least one daughter Eliza Kitty Catherine COOK b. 1822, Kitty had a son George b. 1849, he carried the COOK name, so apparently Kitty never married, she lived til 1914 on death certificate it said single and parents William and Kate COOK.
