Sandy has been stuck for over six years on this Cook
family. Does anyone have any info? There seems to more than one Jasper
Newton Cook in the 1800's and on the death
certificate for Jefferson
Davis Cook - Newton is listed as Jefferson's father. We know of no
connections to Sandy's Cook line but it is interesting to note that there
is a Jasper Newton Cook listed in 1850
in the Jackson Purchase Area of KY. I'm sure that both Sandy and I would
be grateful for any clues. Pat

too many children to mention here. (over 10)
Sandy's grandfather was Jasper
Newton Cook who wasn't born until 1880's, but he
was a namesake of the Jasper
Newton Cook who was in Rhea or Bledsoe County, TN.
She thinks he was still there on 1860 and 1870 census .
The line Sandy descends from and is actually researching
is Alpheus Cook, b.
approx 1843 in TN
(my gr grandfather). I feel that the Jasper Newton Cook living
in
the next house on the 1850 census has to be a relative
(older brother?) because Alpheus named my grandfather Jasper Newton Cook.
Sandy knows of one other (J.N. Cook) who applied for a pension in
Texas.
Sandy did find a Cook Cemetery in either Maury County
Tn. or near Duck River that might have had some Newton Cooks. Is
anyone familiar with a Tennessee Cook Cemetery in Maury County?
