Elizabeth is looking for her husband's maternal Grandfather's family. Supposedly, James Marshall Cook (the husband's grandfather) was born in 1865 in Harlessburg or Harlessberg , TX. His father was Thomas Jefferson Cook and his mother was Bythe or Tabitha Jane Miller. However, in all her searching she has only found three references to the name Harless - a Harless Cemetary in south eastern Texas (far from where they lived) and a school and a creek in Pike Co., Kentucky. If you know if there was ever a town or community affiliated with the Harless name in Kentucky?
From all she can find, Thomas Jefferson Cook was born abt 1839 and died not long after 1865 - perhaps 1969 or 70, although James had two brothers and a sister (Frank, H.P, and Laura). At the time James died (1942) his brother HP was still living in Paducah, TX. Thomas Jefferson Cook also had another wife whose last name was Burgett but no first name or other information is available.
Elizabeth doesn't know if there were children
older than James as he is the oldest of his known siblings.
