It is on the south bank, opposite Madison, Indiana. In December 1836 the Kentucky General Assembly established Trimble County. Taking lands from Henry , Oldham and Gallatin Counties, the new county was formed on the banks of the Ohio River, among the rolling hills almost midway between Louisville and Cincinnati.
