In 2001 we built a log home in Stahlstown, Pennsylvania.
We raise AKC field trial beagles. We are actively involved with the American Brace Beagling Association which was established to protect and promote traditional brace beagling. We are members of Salem Beagle Club, Franklin Township Beagle Club, and Somerset Beagle Club.
I love to knit, sew and quilt. Another great passion of mine happens to be genealogy. I've been on-line since March 1998 and have found a wealth of information from family lists at Rootsweb. I would suggest that everyone take a look at the family lists that are on the internet and delve a little deeper into their own family history. I'm looking for someone to take over the URBAN family mailing list at Rootsweb.
I was accepted into the Daughters of the American Revolution in December 1999. I am the Regent of the Braddock Trail Chapter located in the historic Warden Mansion in Mount Pleasant. We open the house up during the Festival of Lights in December. I took a few photos of the rooms in the chapter house (Nov-Dec 2000). Front parlor mantle. I bought the tree to the right of the mantle. Standing on the stair case to get a view of the hallway. Our meeting room (front parlor). Photo of the small parlor. All donations help to defray the costs of upkeep on the mansion. We are selling packages of notecards depicting the Warden mansion and also tapestry afghans depicting scenes from Mount Pleasant. If you are in Mount Pleasant around Thanksgiving please plan to attend our Festival of Lights.
I worked to prove one line for my DAR application and that was Samuel Pack (soldier and patriot). I submitted supplemental applications for Second Lieutenant Daniel Shumate and Francis Farley (soldier and patriot). I am working to prove supplemental applications for Rev. Josiah Meador (aka Meadows) who served under Colonel George Rogers Clark; and widow Martha Farris Gatliff who supplied food to soldiers. Martha's husband was killed by Indians while serving under General Braddock in 1758. All from Virginia.
One of my earliest ancestors to arrive in America was Thomas Farley and his wife, Jane. They traveled on the ship Ann which arrived in 1623 at Jamestown, Virginia. Thomas served two sessions in the House of Burgesses as a representative for Archer's Hope.
I was diagnosed with Colon Cancer in September 2007. My sister set up a webpage to take sponsorships for the American Cancer Society--Kim Pack's webpage. I finished six months of Chemotherapy and just had my second surgery in July 2008. My surgeon tells me I'm a miracle. He couldn't find any cancer! Everything sent to pathology came back negative.
