Valentine's Day:
Candy Cane Hearts- Here's a great one to take advantage of those after Christmas sales!  Hot glue 2 candy canes together to make the shape of a heart and put a bow at the middle, top point. You could also attach a hanger made out of ribbon. There would look wonderful hanging from the middle of your windows! This is a easy craft for children and class parties.

Heart Butterflies- From pink or red construction paper, cut out 2 hearts, one larger than the other. For the wings, glue the hearts together with the bottom points together.  For the body of the butterfly, cut a pipe cleaner long enough to fit across the lenght of the 2 hearts.  For antennae, cut a pipe cleaner 3 or so inches long and fold it into a "V" shape. Attach antennae to the body by twisting it around the body.  On the wings of the butterfly, glue small cut-out hearts or color as desired.  On the back, write something cute like, "I'd fly anywhere for you, Valentine!" and your name.

"Bee" My Valentine- Cut four same-sized hearts from yellow construction paper. For the wings, glue two hearts together, overlapping bottom points. Repeat with remaining two hearts. Glue the two sets of hearts together at the center. Fold wings up slightly to make them look like they are flapping. For the body, cut a small piece of black pipe cleaner and glue to the center of the wings. On one wing, write "BEE my Valentine- Pleazzzze!" and your name.
Pretty Valentine Holder-  Cut the tops off of two paper plates to form plates into rounded heart shapes. With front sides together, staple around fluted edge. DO NOT STAPLE TOP! For the hanger, cut a lenght of yarn; staple an end to each side. To decorate your holder, glue fabric scraps, magazine cut-outs, colored paper, doilies, cards, etc. or color as desired.  Use this hanger to carry all of your Valentines!  Another option is to use a hole-puncher.  Place plates front sides together and cut holes around the fluted edge of the plates. Then, thread a piece of yard through the holes and tie to form the hanger.  Be sure to use a plastic needle if children are doing this project.
Beaded Hearts-  Thread a beads onto a pipe cleaner until it is almost full. Bend in half and shape into a heart.  Twist the ends together.  Make a ribbon bow and glue to top of heart. You can also glue artificial flowers to the bow. You could easily make this into a pin, magnet or an ornament.
Crazy, Zany Cards- You will need labels from canned fruits and vegetables or food boxes, construction paper, glue, scissors, and markers for this project.
Cut and fold the construction paper into desired card sizes.  Cut heart shapes from the labels and glue to front of cards. Make sure that you can see what kind of fruit or vegetable it is in the heart shape.  On the inside of the card, write the verse that matches the picture on the front:
Canned Corn- "May sound CORNY, but Be My Valentine!"
Zucchini- "Don't SQUASH my feelings, Be My Valentine!"
Beans- "It's BEAN a long time since I had a Valentine. Be Mine!"
Oranges- "ORANGE you glad you're mine? Happy Valentine's Day!"
    Peas- "PEAS, Be My Valentine!"
Artichoke- "ARTICHOKE on my tears if you won't be mine."
Pudding- "PUDDING it into words isn't easy, Please Be Mine!"
Carrots- "If you CARROT all for me, You'll Be Mine!"
Rice- "Dry your RICE and shed no tears, 'cause I'll Be Your Valentine!"
Grapes- "It would be just GRAPE if you'd Be My Valentine!"

Pears- "Valentine, we'd make a great PEAR!"
Cola- "I'd COLA long way for you to Be My Valentine!"
Olives- "OLIVE you, and that's all there is to say!"
Nuts- "I'm NUTS over you, Valentine!"
Beets- "Valentine, you've got them all BEET!"
Heartbeat Valentine: Fold a piece of paper in half.  From graph paper, cut a strip as wide as your card and 2 1/2 inches high.  With a pen, marker or crayon, draw a series of irregular up and down strokes, like upside-down "V's". This resembles a heart monitor that you see in a hospital to measure heart rates.  Glue on cut-out heart shapes or draw some on the front of the card above the graph paper.  On the inside of the card, write something like: "Valentine, you make my heart ________(jump, skip a beat, race, etc.) Be My Valentine!"

St. Patrick's Day:
Shamrock Jewelry-  For the necklace, cut a 36 inch piece of thick, green yarn. Cut out a small shamrock shape on a piece of folded, green construction paper, with the stem on the fold.  Place the shamrocks on the yarn and glue together. Decorate the shamrocks with markers, crayons, or a little bit of glitter. Tie the ends of the yard together.
