Surnames: FERGUSON and ESTY/ESTES I'm sending you this in hopes we can make some kind of connection in our genealogical research. I've too hit the brick wall with family members that are from New York. When reading your emails on roots web, I see similar names at similar times, I know this is grasping at straws but lets try anyway. I've found my ggreat-grandfather, John FERGUSON and his wife and children in the 1880 and 1870 census. Calculation from both these census have John being born in New York in 1841. His wife Ruth, I believe her maiden name to be either ESTY or ESTES, to have been born in either 1843 or 1844 in New Brunswick. I have always assumed that the New York referred to either New York City or State. It could be that it refers to some county or town in Canada. Therefore when I saw you were looking for Ferguson's in the early to mid 1800s and you had family links to New York and Canada I decided to see if we could make a connection in our families. Surnames: FERGUSON and SHURTLIFF I'm looking for John Andrew FERGUSON b.1829 in New Brunswick. He came to Portage Co., Ohio. Married Eunice SHURTLIFF and moved to Cleveland, Ohio. he served in the Civil War. he had two daughters Anna and Louise. He died in 1900. I would like to hear from anyone who is related. Surnames: FERGUSON, McCOMB, RICHARD, McCLOUGHLIN and ROBINSON Hi...i have a great great grand father named William FERGUSON...he was married twice...first wife's last namer was McCOMB...second wife he married here in New-Brunswick...she was a RICHARD...he was an esquire here in NB...but he came here from Pennsylvania...thats where i loose him...i am looking to find his parents names....i found that his parents might have been from Belfast Ireland...i also have ROBINSON ..not sure of where they are from...his mane was Robert Thomas ROBINSON...married to Charlotte McCLOUGHLIN...Both FERGUSON and ROBINSON would have been in the mid 1700's...anyway here is a list of the children William FERGUSON had with his first and second wife..it might help someone out: 1st:Thomas born on october 15 1793 George born 17 march 1795 Mary born 1792......all born in Tracadie NB 2nd:Guillaume born 25 jan 1804 Pierre born 5 march 1805 Henriette born 30 sept 1807 Francoise born 1809 David born 17 sept 1811 Michel born 18 oct 1812 Anne born 20 jan 1815 any help would be greatly appreciated..... thank you Julia Doiron |
