I am trying to trace a Richard FERGUSON (FURGUSON) who arrived in America in August 1826. NY City entry from Belfast on the Carolina Ann. Lived in Dutchess Co. then Fulton. He was about 38 at the time. Occupation listed as "white smith" do you know what that is? There was also a woman listed as Martha FERGUSON age 60 - servant. this could be his mother.

Looking for any info at all.
