Sadly, Cleda Figgs passed away in 2006 after years of battling diabetes. She will be missed.
Castnet Pointers and Rhodesian Ridgebacks began about 15 years ago when Glen Boyer and Cleda Figgs became partners.Glen and Cleda owned Pointer littermates.
They began corresponding and became friends over the years. Cleda was living in San Francisco and was ready to leave the big city and move to the country where life was less hectic. Enter an offer from Glen to move to south Louisiana where he had plenty of property for their dogs and a house for Cleda.
Prior to this time, Glen had bred Pointers under the prefix "Kountry" and Cleda used "Rainbow". Since everyone in their part of LA has a castnet, they chose it for their new kennel name. From San Francisco to the bayous of Houma, Louisiana - my,oh,my!
Castnet breeds dogs only occasionally, to have something to show. Above all, our dogs must have good temperaments, for we expect them to be family pets - first, and show dogs - second. We like for our dogs to look like they can still do the work for which the breed was originally intended.Although we do place puppies in pet homes, they must be spayed or neutered. We believe that only those who have the breed's best interest in their hearts should be breeding. We expect them to be treated as family members, as all of ours are!
We are active in Rescue - both Pointers and Ridgebacks.
Golly! I almost forgot to tell you to go see our Ridgeback pups!
