Alexander was the son of Alexander MCKINNON and Marion (or Murren as she is sometimes listed) CAMPBELL. He was born in Dumbarton, Argyll, Scotland on 26th November 1866. His brother was James Campbell MCKINNON.
He married Maud TAYLOR in Leeds, England in 1906. Maud's father was William TAYLOR
Their first son Rowland (My wife's grandfather), was born in Leeds on 21st July 1908. Their only other child, a stillborn son was buried in Christchurch, New Zealand on 28th October 1914
Alexander, Maud and Rowland MCKINNON came to New Zealand c. 1912-13. At the time of their departure, they were living in Leeds.
Alexander and Maud are both buried in the Sydenham cemetery in Christchurch, New Zealand. Maud died at age 35 years on 3rd November 1914, approximately 3 weeks after the birth of their stillborn son.
Alexander died on 25th December 1937. (Christmas day)
