The children in Miss Meilinger's room took a large box and decorated it with magazine pictures of people caring for each other. They labeled it "Care Package". On Friday, October 22 Mrs. Weclew's fourth grade class took a trip through the sacristry. They say the are were the priest puts his vestments on; also were shown the place where the hosts were kept. I thank you, Lord, for all the things I have received. I thank you for the parents, relatives, and the friends you have given me. I thank you for letting me be healthy. I thank you, dear God, for creating me. |
In a recent interview with a few of the 6th

visit to the Performing Arts Center. This year will be a special year for our
choir. On December 9, 10, and 11, the choir will sing at the
Performing Arts Center for a Christmas Program. |
On October 18, representatives from
Pius,
Divine Saviour-Holy
Angels, Marquette and
Dominican High Schools presented information about their
schools to the 7th and 8th grade classes. |

program, is having a demonstration on Tuesday, November 9.

The Girl Scout style show was a huge success.
Halloween decorations adorned the North Hall. Some mothers generously donated their time
and supervised the students at church during the month of
October.
Would you believe that it was a group
of boys frying chicken, broiling steak, making pancakes,
serving sloppy joes????? |
Mr. Landish expects the volleyball season to begin sometime in early November. the 6,7 and 8-grade girls will each have their own tryouts.
In January there will be a contest of the cheerleaders. Girls from all schools will compete. Julie Krieg and Mary Young had to pick eight girls to represent Christ King. The ones chosen are: With a group like this to represent CK, we're bound to win. Mr. Landish says... Q. What do you think of the team? A. The 7th and 8th grade players are pretty well balanced. 7th grade is adequate and the 8th is exceptionally good. We have one of the best defenses. Q. What do you think the team could improve on? |
A. They need more self confidence, especially our good quarterback, John Keller. Our pass blocking is really coming around. CK St. Anne's 28 6 St. Jude's 0 16 St. Kate's 8 6 Pius 0 14 St. Seb's 6 0 I.C. 6 8 St. Bernard's 6 16 As you all know, Mr. Landish is our new athletic director here at CK school. His previous job was as a part-time coach at St. Bernard's. He is also varsity football coach, and plans to lead the 8th grade girls' volleyball team to victory this year. |
The soccer team this year has done very well. They played 6 games and won 4. Players: Pts. Greg Palacek 5 Ed Braza 1 Dave Bourque 1 Mike Sinsky 1 Chris Lanser 1 Rick Berg Pat Pendergast Tom Kleine The team tied for 2nd place in their league. Father O'Malley is getting all the 4th grade boys together to form a basketball team. Their first practice was on Oct. 27. Father was very pleased with the turn-out. Just think of the superstars we'll have by the time they get to 8th grade!! |
Sunday, Oct. 31, was our Homecoming game..CK vs. St Bernard's. This was a grave moment as St. B's is the school our coach taught at last year. It was a cold night at Hart Park but that didn't stop the cheerleaders and the crowd from screaming encouragement to our team. It was a great turn-out. When the game ended, everyone cheered the boys even though CK lost, 16 - 6 for they played a marvelous game. During the half, Lori Reed in the 7th grade won the football. Her number was picked from the tickets sold at the school. After the game, students and parents attended a party at Christ King honoring the team and the coach. Mr. Landish was presented a gym bag; Mr. Morrow, assistant coach, was given a record;and footballs signed by the Packers were given to Bill Budzien, Dennis Murphy, and Larry Lopina. After the presentations, everyone sat down to enjoy sloppy joes and coke while the cheerleaders again entertained the crowd. It ended up a happy time. |
Just a cheer for our great cheerleaders who have done such a grand job flipping around at the football games. Julie Krieg is their captain; Mary Young; co-captain. Others who cheer are: We mustn't forget to name the two mascots: Margaret Young, 2I Monica Cicerello, 2SMS Let's all yell with the cheerleaders at the game! Bart Starr, Green Bay Packer's quarterback, worked out publicly recently for the first time since he was put on the shelf by two shoulder operations in August. Starr threw "medium range" 25-yard passes with team trainer, Dominic Gentile. When asked if Starr was throwing with any discomfort, Devine said, "Very little." Devine indicated that once Starr is cleared medically to begin playing, it will not take him long to fit into the line-up. "I want to emphasize, said coach Devine,"that the final decision as to |
when Bart can play will be made by me. Bart is up on everything we are doing. Don't know how the rest of you feel, but I'll be glad to see Bart Starr back again. In another development, the Packers announced that a cardiac intensive care unit staffed by a doctor, an RN, and other specialist was at the County Stadium in Milwaukee for Monday night's game against the Detroit Lions which ended in a tie. This move prompted by the death last week of Chuck Hughes, who died of a heart attack during the game between the Lions and the Bears. Many people felt that Hughes might have been revived if cardiac equipment had been available immediately. Let's hope other such instances can be prevented in the future. The Los Angeles Rams announced that linebacker Don Parish will undergo surgery. Parish was just obtained from the St'. Louis Cardinals a few weeks ago. He is a second-year player from Stanford University. Let's all remember to say a prayer for Check Hughes and for his family. |

Pollution is a terrible problem..our problem. Start cleaning up in your neighborhood and in our own playground. Ciccy Cane defines pollution as dirty water and garbage. John Berg says it is smog and dirt. Mark Megal claims all junk is pollution. Donald Bourque tells us pollution comes |
cont'd from burning trash. Steve Schwendtner thinks most of the pollution comes from cars, ships and chimnies. Mike Frederick informs us that smoking cigarettes and throwing them in the river brings about pollution. The following students were asked to answer this question: How are we trying to cut down on pollution? Kathy Arnold:Putting filters into chimnies. Robert Dries: Trying to invent electric cars and make low phosphate detergents. Mark Biedlingmaier: Putting filters into cars and using lead-free gasoline. We are asked to pray for the following people who have died recently. All were members of our parish: Clarence Leack Delmar Leverance Frances Schaetz |

THE NIGHT THEY DROVE OLD DIXIE DOWN Vershal Cane is my name And I drove on the Bandrol Train Till so much cavalry came And tore up the tracks again. In the winter of 65 When the hungry were just barely alive I took a train to Richmanville It was a time I remember, oh, so well.
Chorus: The night they drove old Dixie down And all the bells were ringing The night they drove old Dixie down And all the people were signing. Na, Na, Na, Na,Na,Na, Na, Na, Na,Na, Na, Na, Na,Na, Na, Na. That was my wife in Tennessee And one day she said to me, "Vershal, quick come see There goes Robert E. Lee." Now I don't mind them chopping wood And I don't mind if the money's no good Just take what you need and leave the rest, But they should never have taken the very best. |
DEAR ANGIE Dear Angie, My boyfriend and I have been going out for several months now. On our moonlight walks lately, he has been acting strange. He's been growling and he tried to bite my neck. What should I do? Dogbisquit Dear Dogbisquit, Two suggestions..either quit going for the walks or buy your friend a muzzle. Angie
Dear Angie, I have a terrible problem with girls. They refuse to leave me alone. What can I do? Popular Pat Dear Popular Pat, Stop using Hai-Karate. Angie
Do you have a problem? |
Have you ever noticed the snow in Mr. Del Bello's hair? Mrs. Ross is still giving everyone hail. Thunder came from Mr. Landish's locker room after the homecoming game Sunday. Sr. Thomas' barometer is 99.9 and still rising. Ever bump into that black cloud handing over the science room? Watch out!!! When lightning strikes, Sr. Collette is not far behind. Q. Spell hard water with three letters. A. I - C - E Q. What bus crossed the ocean? A. ColumBus |
Sr. Agatha visited the rooms again today and showed her disappointment in the spelling. Mike Watry finally memorized the number 3 tables. Sue Benkoe was suffering through a day of school at St. Catherine's. Mrs. Newell's class put on a play, "St. Francis of Assissi". Tony Handzlik was St. Francis; Kevin Boyle portrayed the world. The other third grade classes were invited to see this fabulous production. Sr. Gail's class visited a school and acted as Santa Claus. Each child donated mittens to these under-privileged children. Oh, Memories!!!! George: School sure is boring. All the teachers look the same. Paul: They only get the metal changed once a year, you know. George: What really gets me is how they yell at you. |
Bzzzzzzt! Where is your homework George? By the time I feed my excuse in, he already doubled my punishment!!! Paul: Remember when Chris pulled out the plug and we had a free period? But they always find out, don't they? George: Yah, but once in a while we get them shook up!!! Paul: And that singing. How anyone could program such a flat-toned hunk of metal to teach singing, is something I can't understand. UMPA! UMPA! UMPA! George: Well, there's another BXXXXXXT telling us it's time to start class...see ya. Paul: See you after school for a game of push football, George. Can you unscramble the following ten schools? Hint: Some begin with St. All are rivals of ours
