Shepherd's Pie
2 pounds ground beef
1 onion (diced)
1-1 lb. package frozen mixed vegetables
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can brown gravy
1/2 tsp. garlic powder OR 3 cloves fresh (pressed)
1/4 tsp. sage
black pepper to taste
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
3 cups mashed potatoes
Brown ground beef with onion or package of seasoning blend. Drain it well and rinse with very hot water. While beef is browning, boil mixed vegetables. Drain them well. Mix beef, vegetables, spices, soup and gravy together. Pour into a casserole dish. Preheat oven to 350°. Sprinkle cheese on top of beef and vegetable mixture. Top with mashed potatoes. Bake until bubbly; about 20 minutes.
Note: I like to put the mashed potatoes in my Pampered Chef decorator and pipe them in little stars on top of the dish. This make a very pretty presentation.
