How to Find God . . .

Because He's Looking for you.

I believe that the time is very short before the return of Jesus and that we don't have time to waste in sharing at every opportunity God gives us.

God Loves You

Set aside the issue of what you've done wrong in your life. Jesus wants to make it right. He loves you; He knows you by name. He wants to take you right where you are; you don't have to get your life together first. The issue isn't what particular sin you've committed, the real issue is who Jesus is and what decision you make about him. So, I want to share these scriptures with you:

  • 1--We are all sinners. (Romans 3:23) "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

  • 2--As a result of sin, we all die. (Romans 6:23a) "For the wages of sin is death..."

  • 3--But we have been given a great gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. (Romans 6:23b & John 3:16) "...but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."

  • 4--There is nothing we can do ourselves to earn or deserve this salvation. (Ephesians 2:8,9 & Romans 5:8) "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast." "But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

  • 5--Jesus is the only way to salvation. (Acts 4:12) "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

  • 6--We only need believe and confess. (Romans 10:9) "That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

  • 7--We can know these things are true. (I John 5:13) "I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life."

He will make us new creations. Listen to this: "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." That's the bad news. I would say that the above description of sins just about covers everyone, including me. But the exciting part is, there's hope! You can be forgiven. You can be set free. You don't have to remain in the cycle of sin and guilt. Listen to the Good News: "And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God." (I Corinthians 6:9-11, NIV) Through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross for you and for me, you can spend eternity with Him.

God wants you to be free from the grip of sin and become an heir with Christ Jesus. He wants you to be His child. Satan comes as an angel of light to deceive (II Corinthians 11:14), but he wants to kill and destroy you. (I Peter 5:8). He is the father of lies (John 8:44). He hates you. God loves you. He died for you. You can pray this prayer anytime you want to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. I urge you not to delay:

Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I can't do this on my own. I repent of my sin. I ask you to come into my heart and cleanse me of all unrighteousness. I believe that you died for me and that you forgive me of all my sins. Thank you for doing this for me. Amen

So, Now What???

If you prayed that prayer and were sincere, then you're now a part of the family of God. You are now in the body of Christ. But what do you do now? Here are some things that will help you in your new life:

  • Tell somebody what you've just done, that you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior.Tell a friend. Tell someone who has told you they have been praying for you.

  • Find a good Bible-believing church to attend. You need to find others who can help you in your walk as a Christian and the best way to do that is find a good church to attend. You're part of the body of Christ--A toe can't make it on it's own! It needs a foot, a leg, arms, etc. (I Corinthians 12:12,14) Ask a friend who attends a church, or look in the phone book and call a few. (Some to look into would be Assemblies of God, Baptist, Indepentant Bible Churches, Calvary Chapels, Evangelical Churches, Foursquare Gospel Churches, Nazarene, Free Methodist, to name a few.) They'd love to help you!

  • Get a Bible and begin to read it every day--Start with the Gospel of John. Before you were a Christian and tried to read the Bible, it probably didn't make a whole lot of sense to you. (I Corinthians 2:14) Now, the Holy Spirit will be your Teacher and help you to understand what you read. (John 14:26) The New International Version (NIV) is one that is easy to read and understand. You can pick one up at any Bible bookstore.

  • Talk to God every day--This is what we mean by praying. You can tell God everything! (Because He already knows what you're going to say you might as well tell Him anyway...) Tell Him how grateful you are for what He's done in your life. Tell Him how you've messed up during the day (because we ALL do!) and ask for forgiveness. Tell Him how thankful you are for everything. And then tell Him about the needs in your life.

God loves you and will help you everyday. He will never leave you or forsake you. You can trust Him!

We're all going to spend eternity somewhere . . . It's your choice that determines where.
