Charles was a very protective brother especially when it came to his little sister Elizabeth. Grandma Irene remembers one time Charlie chased a boy who was teasing Betty; as a result Charlie was hit by car. Luckily, no serious damage was done. Charles was the first son to graduate from high school and he received a scholarship to attend college. Not wanting to attend college, Charlie worked and married JoAnn.
Charlie and JoAnn are the parents of Debbie nee Gniech Herrmann and Charles Jr.
They are the grandparents of Travis and Ryan (Debbie & Steve are the parents).
