FAMILY HISTORY
AND NAME INDEX

Over the last several years, I have researched many different family names, thier locations, and their family history. One of the family surnames is the VOLLMAR line from Germany. The family traveled to the United States and their name changed to FULLMER.
Hans Jacob Vollmar came to America from Germany on September 20, 1738 on a ship called "Friendship", commanded by Henry Beech. Hans Jacob arrived with his second wife, Anna Maria Dittus Follmer and her daughter Anna Maria. Also, two sons from his first marriage came along, Michael and Johann Jacob seeking a new life in the "New World". After his arrival in the "New World", He dropped the name of Hans and began going by Jacob Vollmar. One day, a clerk in a local store spelled Jacob's surname Follmer instead of Vollmar and he and his family started to use the new spelling. Eventually the spelling became Fullmer, Fulmer, Follmer and Folmer.
The Fullmer's were located in Pennsylvania and then traveled on to Utah becoming one of the first Mormon families following the originators of the LDS church.
Peter Fullmer along with his family, moved from Pennsylvania to Jefferson Township, Richland Co., Ohio in the year of 1835. This was the headquarters of the Mormon church at this time. They met with the Elders and in about 1836, Peter and Susanna were baptized into the church. In the fall of 1839, Peter and his wife moved to Nauvoo, Illinois. Peter purchased land in Nauvoo. A map of this track hangs on the wall of the Church Historian's office in Salt Lake City. Peter left Nauvoo in about 1846 and moved in with his son David who at the time was the Presiding Elder at Garden Grove, IowaPeter and Susanna accompanied their Daughter-in-law, Rhoda Ann to Utah in 1850.
Now, the family exsists in Nevada, Idaho, Colorado, Utah, and many other states.
