Choosing A Dog....

÷bar

Things To Consider :-
1) Size.
2) Time for :- grooming and exercising.
3) Money for :- food, vet bills/health, equiptment, etc.
4) Sex - Male or Female.
5) Age - Young or Old.
6) Breed - Predigree or Mongrel
7) How Many?

Many people don't consider all the dogs needs or breed charactersitics. Getting a suitable dog for your lifestyle, home, & pocket is very important. Another thing that should be considered before you obtain your dog is your family, it's requirements and committments. Involving the whole family in the decision of getting a dog and then what breed of dog will hopefully enable to choose the correct dog.

Right Breed ?

It is wise to seek advice from books, magazines, cd rom's, breeders and breed clubs to gain as broader view of your chosen breed as possible, before getting your dog. Your research will possibly help prevent mis-matches and problems.

Do not just take the first puppy or dog you see, as they could be with you and your family for a long time. Look round for a healthy, active, playful and if you are going to show, as near breed standard as possible. It is not advicable to decide after you have obtained your dog to then show it as you could be sorely disappointed. Always see both parents if you are wanting a specific breed, this will also give you a good idea of what your puppy/ young dog will be like as it grows.

Pick Carefully

Another good place to find a dog, is at the many rescue centres/societies. Here you will be given useful advice and support, as well as giving an unfortunate dog a second chance. Rescue dogs can be full of life, love as I had with Tasha. But it is worth noting some may require extra time and patience, whilst they gain confidence and security, before their love and respect shine through.
