The goal of the Tennessee Adoption Registry is to give triad members a place to come together without fear, without expense, without all of the red tape! The decision to have names, medical information, or relationships should be ours - not the state's. I don't believe that searchers should have to pay out large amounts of money to agencies and private investigators; and I don't believe that we should be made to feel devious when we try to access records. Most importantly, I don't believe that this has to be a difficult process.
It is my belief that adult adoptees and birth family members should have the opportunity to know each other, if they so choose. The desire to know our beginnings, to know how our children have faired, to have knowledge of the most basic elements of our existance is a strong one. What we can do here is get past the secrecy, get past the shame, and complete the circle.
