"Somewhere In Time"

Rainbow Bridge

It is with great sadness that we find the need for this page. Wouldn't it be nice if all our furry friends could live forever. Unfortunately, since that isn't possible we must love them the same way they love us while they live and treasure their memories when they leave us.

We must take faith in the knowledge that if they were old and sick, they no longer suffer but are well and free from pain to romp and play as they did when they were young. If they were young and taken from you suddenly take comfort that they are in good company and will be looked after by the older, wiser ones. That they too are free from pain and suffering and that they await your arrival beyond the bridge.

Royboy

Australian Champion Robroy Gillie Macgregor (imp NZ)

Born 11 August 1994 in New Zealand
Crossed the bridge 15 December 1997

My boy Roy - Puppy in Show.

Roy loved life and loved to hunt.
He wanted to be friends with everyone and especially enjoyed a tummy tickle.
A promising youngster who will now never have the chance to achieve the greatness he was destined for.
He was a star in my eyes and my best buddy.
Now he is a star for all to see.
His passing has left a huge gap which can never be filled.
He will never be forgotten.
His memory will live forever in these pages.

Love always
Mum and Gemma

Cassie as a baby.

Our firstborn homebred Champion.
Her nature matched her name - Gremlin
Full of mischief and a typical cocky Westie.
Retired from showing at a young age and lived with a very good friend.
Gone from our home but not from our hearts.
She will be sadly missed by all.

Love always, Marelle, Midget, Mummy Gemma, Nanny Pam & Nanny Pen.

See - Cassie.

Paddy

Lewenda Paddywhack

Born 25 February 1989
Crossed the bridge 11 March 1999

Lewenda Paddywhack

We met Paddy by chance through a friend of ours who did grooming. We were struck by this well put together dog and discovered that he had at one stage been a show dog who never quite took to the showring. He was a very sweet natured, loving Westie but unfortunately, it took some time for him to find the loving home he deserved where he happily lived out the rest of his life.

We had the honour of using him at stud which gave rise to our very first Westie litter. Sire of our Cassie and three other pups another of which went on to become an Australian Champion.

We feel honoured to have known him and bless him for the wonderful puppies he gave us.

He passed away after a long illness only a month after his daughter.

Gemma

Australian Champion Dunster Sumerset Gem

Born 12 November 1991
Crossed the bridge 13 March 2002

Gemma, October 2001

Gemma was my faithful companion for 10 years 4 months and had many nicknames bestowed upon her during those years. Gembo, Gemmado, gemmyjammys but one thing stood out. She was as her name implied a "Gem" and always a lady, right to the end. To describe her personality you would have to say that if she could have spoken it would have been with a plum in her mouth. By the same token she always had that true terrier spirit.

She enjoyed a very successful show career and had three litters before we retired her. When she was diagnosed with inoperable cancer in October 2001 I was devastated and the vet gave her "possibly only a month" to live. We resorted to natural remedies and tried what we could for her for which we were blessed with 5 months of quality time with her. Unfortunately, on the morning of March 13 2002 I held her, for the last time, as she made her way across Rainbow Bridge. Making the decision to let her go was probably the hardest thing I have ever had to do and I give thanks that I found the strength and courage to do the right thing for her when she needed me most.

My heart is heavy as I write this tribute to my beautiful baby, but I take comfort that she no longer suffers and is finding her way to my beloved Roy, her daughter Cassie as well as her one time lover "Paddy". I will miss her terribly, as will Jackie and her young playmate Macgregor. A Peace Lily now adorns our front porch in her memory and I know that her spirit is watching and guarding the front door.

These pages will serve as a tribute to her and the faithful, loving companionship she gave me over the years. I will always remember her with much love.

To my Gemma baby: Be in peace and see you at the bridge.

Love always
Mum, Jackie and Greggy

Ashley

Born June 1998
Departed 13 April 2002

Ashley, October 2001

Yes... Your right Ashley is not a Westie but she came into our lives at about 6 weeks of age, as a companion for Gemma, after the loss of Roy. I was a little hesitant about bringing a cat into the family but to my amazement Gemma took to her so well that she even allowed Ashley to suckle from her. They were the best of friends.

Unfortunately one month to the day after loosing Gemma Ashley disappeared. We scoured the neighbourhood, made up a pamphlet and did a letterbox drop, stuck posters in as many places as we could. All to no avail. We never saw nor heard anything about her again.

Not knowing what has happened to her is very hard. If she met her demise somewhere then I know she is with her beloved Gemma. My hope is that she is safe, well and has wandered into a home where she is loved as much as we loved her. Either way we will always remember her, her antics and she will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Ashley: Where ever you are, may you be happy.

Love always
Mum, Jackie and Greggy

Buttons

Rescued March 2001
Crossed the Bridge December 2002

Buttons and Gemma, October 2001

Buttons came into our lives in March 2001 aged a little over 12 months. She was a skinny little thing and as much as we tried we were never able to fatten her up. She was welcomed into the house by Gemma but getting her and Ashley together was a little more difficult. After some initial disagreements she blended into our lives as though she had always been there.

She was a very loving, placid, easy going cat who put up with young Macgregor's antics without complaint. She loved cuddles and climbing onto your lap while watching TV or playing on the computer. She really loved the fireside during winter.

She was a fussy eater from time to time and the reason for that was not discovered until it was too late. In December 2002 it was discovered that the 3 yr old had cancer of the mouth and we were left with no options but to send her to the bridge. Heartbroken by the loss of such a young member of the family but her memory will linger on. She will always have a special place in our hearts.

Love always
Mum, Jackie and Greggy

Becky

Australian Champion Bonessie Becky Bethridge
Born 24 September 1993
Crossed the bridge 11 December 2004

Beckster 2003

Becky Boop, Boopy, Beckster, she answered to them all. I still remember the black and white balls she had as a puppy and the way she both coveted and destroyed them. Her favourite toys. The last of our homebred champions who stayed a puppy most of her life. Free from pain and back with her beloved companion of her youth, Cassie. Leaving behind one lonely Haimish, her gramma Pen and her stepbrother William the Airdale, who misses her so already.

Love always
Grammy Pam, Grammy Pen, Marelle, Uncle Haimish and William

Haimish

Malthighland Tyke

Born 20 November 1988
Crossed the bridge 12 January 2006

Haimish in the Garden 2005

I really dont know what to say about this wonderful little dog. He may have been small in size but in reality there was nothing small about him.
He marked the start of an ongoing affair with this wonderful breed and he truly was, as is written, "a small dog in a big dog's body".

Sadly his passing also marks the end of an era and he leaves behind many people whose lives he touched.
Who would have imagined that that tiny runt would have lived to the ripe old age of 17.

Gone now to join the other kids at the bridge but forever he will be in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Not least of all his adoring Mum who is now without a westie in the house.
He will be remembered always.

Love now and forever
Mum, William, Maddy and Aunty Pam

Rex

Australian Champion Bonessie Pride N Glory

Born 8 February 1993
Crossed the bridge 10 May 2007

Sexy Rexy

Rex's passing brings great sadness as he was the first of the Bonessie line, big Brother to Cassie and first born to my beloved Gemma. Special thanks to Sue and David for giving Rex such a wonderful and loving home.

Here is the email I received shortly after his passing.

Here is the last photo of our beloved rexy. He has his jacket on because he had no fat left on him and he was cold. As you can see he just looks tired. David likes this photo, me not so much, it's not how I remember him. I remember him going down the slippery slide with the kids (I think he secretly liked them, although he would never let them know that), throwing a biscuit around for half an hour before actually eating it or before teddy got it. He would crouch down with bum stuck up in the air and throw the biscuit, then run and pounce on it and do it all over again. I remember he would bark and bark and bark and bark and bark and bark (I could keep going) when we got home, especially when David got home from work. He didn't like the kids getting David's attention first so he would bark and bark until David would either bend down and pat him or tell him in no uncertain terms to be quiet, either way Rex didn't care, he got his attention. I remember him driving me nuts with his whingeing, didn't have to be a special occasion, just because he could. I remember feeling safe if rex was out the back with the kids because even though as I said he would put on this facade that he didn't really care too much for this noisy pair that would pat him on the head ever so gently (not), I knew that if anyone was to come in the yard or if they were in trouble, rex would have done anything to protect them. But most of all I remember him being the most loyal dog anyone could ask for, always there, even though you would often curse him because we were always tripping over him, ah what you would do to have all that back.

Poor old rexy is an impossible act to follow, I know we say this now but I can't imagine any other dog filling his shoes, he was special in so many ways, we always said he was our special dog (our interpretation of special changed depending on what he did).

Well he is up in the garden with his wife now, probably causing havoc up in heaven, or driving them nuts with his whingeing.

He is certainly missed, Lachlan keeps telling us that Teddy misses Rex, which he does. Lachlan said the day after could I give Rex some medicine so he could come back from heaven and he keeps telling us he wants 2 dogs, they don't understand.

Lucky this is not paper, there would be runs all over it. Anyway thanks for giving us the opportunity to love one of the most precious dogs ever created, like his mother he was very special. We are very grateful that his passing was peaceful and pain free, I know it made it easier on all of us.

Gone from our lives but will live on forever in our hearts
