Celebration is a retreat for all the churches, Wesley Foundations, and other
Methodist young adult organizations throughout the Holston Conference. The weekend long retreat
was held this year up on in Gatlinburg, during the second weekend of February. The
message for the weekend was shared by Steve Varro, Christian illusionist. He shared several programs
of sleight of hand as well as a moving service Sunday morning. Also included on the trip was
lots of singing, laughing, sharing, and making new friends.
On this page are some pictures and stories about our weekend.

retreat participant with his trick involving a dollar bill. Bob will soon learn the folly of volunteering his dollar
for this illusion...
It is way, way too early to be up on a Saturday morning. When caffeine fails to revive
the group, we play a stimulating round of the hokey-pokey to get the blood flowing and try to wake up. Opal
proves to be very adept at doing the hokey-pokey as she encourages everyone to get into it and wake up.

One of the highlights of the weekend was the Rev. Steve Martin (a minister from the conference, not the one who was on Saturday Night Live or in the Father of the Bride movies!) sharing a variety of
new songs with us. We were able to sing, clap, play instruments, and, in general, worship God through song
together.
One of our favorite activities is playing Trivial Pursuit. Here we challenge several of our new
found friends to a game. However, we've got a secret weapon on our side--Debby, the master of Trivial Pursuit.
Little did we know how long this game would go. In this picture, John reads a question to the opposing team as Marilyn serves as
a free agent, helping out each of the teams if they aren't able to come up with an answer.
It's time for an important decision--where to eat dinner Saturday night. Cindy is all for going to the Sagebrush
where you can get great food and throw peanut shells on the floor while you wait for your food.
