William Haywood 7 Ruffin Family

Married: 1854 Agnes K. Chadwick

William Haywood Ruffin was a graduate of University of North Carolina (1833-36) and Grad of Univ of Penn Medical School. He served as Brig Surgeon in the Confederacy.

He moved to Lexington, Missouri and later joined his brother, Samuel, in Choctaw County, Alabama.

His son, Samuel Ruffin also lived in Choctaw County with his wife Blanche Forster. Baptism records indicate the family worshipped in Calvary Church, Episcopal.The children of Samuel and Blanche: James Forster, Samuel, and Blanche Forster were baptised there in 1884.

Daughter, Mary Tartt Ruffin, had also been baptised there at age 14 on Aug 1, 1878.

Probate minutes (pg 233, 265) 5 March 1881 show Agnes K. Ruffin as administrator of W.H. Ruffin's estate and Smauel Ruffin, Jr. as guardian for his younger siblins, Hanson Chadwick, William Haywood, and Mary Tart Ruffin.

The family remained in Choctaw for a while before returning to Louisburg, Franklin Co, NC.

In the May 15, 1907, Choctaw Advocate, Samuel Ruffin, Jr. advertised 1620 acres of land between Pushmatah and Butler for sale. In December of 1907, Samuel Ruffin, Jr. died and "the remains wer conveyed from Meridian, MS to the home of Mr. C.T. Ezell".
