My Personal Testimony

This hymn, written by Charles Wesley over 200 years ago, is still alive with truth today.

And can it be that I should gain
An interest in the Savior's blood?
Died He for me, who caused His pain?
For me, who Him to death pursued?

Amazing love! how can it be
That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?

He left His Father's throne above,
So free, so infinite His grace!
Emptied Himself of all but love,
And bled for Adam's helpless race!
'Tis mercy all, immense and free,
For, O my God, it found out me.

Long my imprisoned spirit lay
Fast bound in sin and nature's night.
Thine eye diffused a quickening ray;
I woke - the dungeon flamed with light!
My chains fell off, my heart was free,
I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.

No condemnation now I dread;
Jesus, and all in Him is mine;
Alive in Him, my living Head,
And clothed in righteousness divine,
Bold I approach th' eternal throne,
And claim the crown, through Christ my own.

 I wouldn't have been what you would have termed a "bad" person before coming to know Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I was your average nice person, and I got along with everyone (or at least tried to).

But then one day, a friend of mine invited me to a get-together they were having at her church....and I went. I learned a lot about Christians that day...they have fun! So, when my friend invited me to church with her the following Sunday, I said yes. And I went again, and again, and again.

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23)." It wasn't until 10 months after that first Sunday that I finally realized, "I'm a sinner. So what if I'm a good person. It's not enough." I could not be good enough. Not on my own. Only Jesus could cover my sin, make me pure, and give me peace. It was so easy....all I had to do was ask Him to forgive me of my sins, purify my heart, and come into my life.

Since then it has become more than that, more than just making sure I'm in heaven after I die. Now I just couldn't imagine life without Him, without His guidance and comfort.

"Come unto Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30)."

Amazing love! how can it be that Thou, my God, shouldst die for me? He did die for me. And He died for you. So we could be with Him. So we can have joy and be fulfilled.

Absolutely Amazing.

He Died for You
