Mr. Cayne
I grew up in a semi-rural area where cats were a wonderful fact of life. Cayne was my first "adult" cat. He came to live with me from a shelter after I finished university and started living on my own. He immediately won my heart. |
|
Cayne got his name after considerable thought. It was derived from a commercial at the time (1973) about a cleanser nicknamed the 'white tornado'. A very active kitten we decided he was the 'feline hurricane' - and the 'cane' became CAYNE!
As you can see, Cayne's most favorite position was prone - usually with eyes closed. He had no shame and once posed as the centerfold for "PlayCat". Being outside was preferable whenever possible. |
|
Although an all-white puss, Cayne had no problems with his hearing. He was also fastidious and kept his coat bright and white most of the time without the aid of Tide!
Cayne's penchant for sun-bathing ultimately proved to be his downfall. He developed cancerous ear-tips in later life and although surgery helped, it did eventually spread and claimed him in his 16th year. Pet owners - use sun block!
By the time Cayne left this earth, he had lived most of his 9 lives to their fullest. Here he enjoys a car from the inside, but once, as a young cat, he was nearly destroyed by one after he crawled up inside its engine. A lucky cat, he survived and went on to enjoy many more misadventures.
I still love and miss you, buddy! |
