Tribute to Bo
April
6, 1988 - December 12, 1996
Since I was 8 years old, I wanted a golden retriever. My
parents said, "This house is too small for a big dog. Wait until you get your own
house." So that is what I did. Eighteen years later, I bought my first house. One
week later, I bought my first golden. It was the happiest day of my life!!!
He looked like a little bear cub, only golden. He was the love of my life.
But this fairytale soon came to an end. At age two, Bo had cancer. After three or four
different surgeries, we thought that the battle was won. At age eight, Bo had cancer
again. Surgery removed a hemangiosarcoma. He was so weak and had been through so much in
his short lifetime, that I chose not to put him through chemotherapy. Ten weeks later, he
died in my arms. That was the saddest day of my life.
I'll always love you, golden boy. You taught me so much in
such a short period of time. Thank you Bo, for sharing your life with me. Some day, I'll
join your golden star, and we'll cross rainbow bridge together..........
"I have sent you on a journey to a land free from pain, not because I
did not love you, but because I loved you too much to force you to stay."
