Honeycomb Mystery Quilt
I started this mystery quilt at www.quiltindex.com during the summer of 2001. I was motivated to finish it because each month new instructions were posted. I did expand on the idea and made a full size quilt rather than the lap size. The border was my idea and I barely had enough of the fabric to complete it. Some of the light triangles are pieced. I liked the zig zag effect and really wanted to make it work.

It was machine pieced entirely with my new (used) Bernina 830. What a machine! She sews like a dream and makes piecing a pleasure.

Another incentive was after completion sending a photo of my finished quilt I was awarded 2 free yards of my choice at Big Horn Quilts.

Blue Quilt
I call this my ugly quilt because when I first made these blocks my husband said he didn't like it. They did'nt do anything for him. He was right and they sat in the trunk for 18 years. Got them out this winter (2002) and decided to lay them in rows. I found a complimentary striped fabric and used it for the strips and borders. This quilt has come alive proving that with the right kind of layout, any blocks can be recycled into something beautiful. And isn't that true in our own lives?

These blocks were worth keeping to me because they contained fabrics from my high school dresses, maternity clothes, and my daughter's baby clothes. The down side is that they are not all 100% cotton, so this quilt may not wear as well, but should still have some years of use.

Sarah's Quilt
This one was a lot of fun using up the many scraps I had saved.
