A TTY is a device that enables people to type to each other over the phone rather than speaking and listening. Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing are not the only people who benefit from using this technology. Stroke victims, people who can not use their voice, and others also use a tty.
The tty has a cradle for the phone receiver or plugs directly into the phone line. It works similar to a computer modem. As technology advances, tty's become smaller and faster.
