Maneka Gandhi,
renowned animal rights activist, writer, and environmentalist. Chairperson of People for
Animals, Mrs. Gandhi, who also heads SPCA in New Delhi, received the Lord Erskine Award in
1993 and runs Asia's biggest animal care centre.
Anupam Kher, the award-winning actor, has campaigned for the
movement on various popular platforms, including the newly formed Artists for Animals, in
which Madhuri Dixit and Shahrukh Khan, Pooja Bhatt and Saif Ali Khan are active members.
Maqbool Fida Hussain, India's most celebrated painter and great
animal lover, has been an active member of the movement against cruelty to animals and is
involved in raising public awareness for the ethical treatment of animals.
Mairo Miranda, world famous cartoonist, is involved in issues
relating to animal activism and has played a crucial role during the formative period of
the movement in India, as one of the founding members of People for Animals.
Pritish Nandy, writer, media person, founded PFA and is its
Managing Trustee, urging on the movement for greater awareness of animal welfare issues
and bringing them centrestage on the national agenda.
