Song Lyrics
IT'S NO BIG DEAL

-1-
I've lived through the horror when someone I loved
Was beside me,
then tragically gone;
I've known the great pain of a terrible crash
Tearing muscle and
tissue and bone;
I've felt the frustration of seeing great promise
That fizzled and wasted away;
I've choked back the rage when I've seen little children,
Too battered and broken to play.
I've seen people butchered by murderous monsters
Who showed no remorse or reform;
And pieces of bodies all shattered and strewn
When a plane hit the ground in a storm;
I've watched while the agony hammered and clawed,
As an illness destroyed a good friend,
So it’s no big deal, this pain that I feel,
When you say that you're leaving again.
•
(chorus)
As bad as it feels, it's not a big deal;
This world's full of worse things, you see;
So I'll play along, contented and calm;
'Cause you're hurting yourself more than me.
•
-2-
I've felt the great magic of watching a baby
Cry out at its moment of birth;
And I've known the wonder of seeing a rainbow,
When summer rains covered the earth;
I've cried tears of joy as I witnessed a child
Give his best, when defeat was so near;
And I've felt the thrill when the underdog won,
And the bully ran home, full of fear.
I've stared in amazement and shivered with awe,
At the glorious sights that I've seen:
The red of a sunset, the blue of the ocean,
A forest's incredible green;
I've trembled with passion and love, and I thought
That I must be the luckiest of men;
So it's no big deal, this joy that I feel,
When you say that you've come home again.
•
(chorus)
As good as it feels, it's not a big deal,
I've watched as you've come and you've gone;
So I'll play along, be patient and strong,
While you learn life is not just a song.
•
(tag)
You spend every day, in games that you play,
While happiness rushes on past;
I hope that someday you find the right way,
And come back when you've grown up at last.
