REFUGE IN THE STORM
(Terror from the Skies)
©2001, John A Poe Jr
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1
In Sodom and Gomorrah people turned away from right,
With everything despicable and evil in God’s sight.
They refused to listen when His messengers came through,
So God did what He told them He would do.
•
And there was terror from the skies, and buildings crashing down,
And frightened words and bitter cries rose up within the town.
The only hope for them was to call on the Lord,
He was a refuge in the storm.
•2•
The people of America were swollen up with pride,
With power and wealth, and great success at everything they tried.
They started thinking God didn't matter in their land,
But they were only building on the sand.
•
And there was terror from the skies, and buildings crashing down,
And angry words and bitter cries rose up from every town.
The only hope for man is to call on the Lord,
He is our refuge in the storm.
•3•
The book of Revelation tells us how the world will end,
And we will stand in judgment for our failures and our sin.
We know this earth and universe will surely pass away,
But will your heart be ready on that day?
•
For there’ll be terror from the skies, and buildings crashing down,
And desperate words and bitter cries will rise from every town.
The only hope for man is to call on the Lord,
He’ll be our refuge in the storm.
The only hope for us is to call on the Lord,
He is our refuge in the storm.
Our only hope is in the Lord.
