Adoption Successes
Mandy (right) with her new family, the
Augsburgs.
You will find this difficult to believe, but Mandy's previous
owners abandoned her. They literally moved away and left Mandy in the
backyard. They came once a week, left her a bag of food and filled a
galvanized bucket with water. We are not exactly sure how long she was
there alone, but from the state of her coat we are thinking it was at least a
couple of months. Not only had they abandoned her but they also did not
have her spayed or keep up with her heartworm medication. She was discovered
when a friend of Sheltie Rescue heard from the owner himself what he had
done. She immediately took her and brought her to our Rescue.
E.J. and Leila
E.J. is now in a wonderful home with Leila in Highlands,
NC. He once lived in Virginia with someone who neglected him. He
was very sick when he came into rescue but he is healthy, handsome and very
happy. He's indeed a special little rescue. We miss you E.J.!!
Blaze and Jim
Blaze was adopted by Jim who now lives in the D.C. area. Blaze is a 1 year old tri-factored sable who is very loveable and active.
Erin holding her sheltie Vanessa - Christmas
1997
The Megers adopted Vanessa in April of 1997. Isn't this a
wonderful picture?! Vanessa was dumped in the Gaston County Animal
Shelter by her owners. Not only did they dump her but she also had a very
severe case of heartworms. But she survived the grueling treatments and
is now happy and loved by the Megers. Thank you for giving Vanessa a
second chance!
The Halls with Shelby
The Halls of Raleigh adopted Shelby. Shelby was rescued
from the animal shelter after her owners turned her in. She now has a big
fenced in yard, two very fun boys to play with and another sheltie. The
boys love playing ball with Shelby and Alphy just likes her being around.
Chloe with the Edney family
Chloe was found stray in Knightdale, North Carolina by a very nice lady who loves animals.
She ran an ad trying to find her owners but no one claimed her. She then gave
Chloe to GCSSC to find her a wonderful new family. Chloe was recently adopted
by the Edney family who live in South Carolina. They have two daughters and
another sheltie. Chloe is very happy in her new home and is loving all the
attention she is receiving.
Cassidy (now Chancey) and Deanna
Can you believe this is our little Cassidy who we rescued on May 23 at 8 weeks old with a broken leg? She is almost a year old now.
She is a very pretty and very very sweet girl. She has a wonderful new mom who loves her very much. We recently learned that Cassidy had to have her
leg amputated. However, she is doing great and getting along like she has all four. If you haven't read Cassidy's story, you should. Her's is an
incredible story. We love Cassidy very much! She's special and she's what
rescue is all about.
The Giddings with their sheltie Misty (left) and
their new rescue sheltie Toby (right).
Toby was found stray in Southern Pines, NC in June of
1998. Toby was obviously on his own for quite some time. He was
very frightened, thin and very matted. Through the TLC while in foster
care and now in his new home, Toby has made a remarkable recovery. This
is truly a great example of a "Happily Ever After" story.
