Whatīs a dodo?

As "dodo" is known a group of birds that lived in Indic Oceanīs islands until the XVII century. Perhaps the portuguese were the first in calling them dodos, we suppose for imitating their voice ("do-do" or "doa-doa"). Dutch sailors called them "Walghvoels" ("sickening birds") and "drontes". The meaning of this last term remains unknown, but the Germans used it too.
The dodo belonged to two genus (Raphus y Pezophaps) of the family Raphidae, which was included in the order Columbidae. He was related then with doves: he was a fat and clumsy dove with 15 to 20 kg unable to fly !.
