George is on the cover of Country Music Magazine's (October/November issue) with a story on defining voices of country music
The first-time pairing of George Strait and Alan Jackson will be on a controversial song titled "Murder On Music Row". Strait invited Jackson into the studio to record the song, which is being considered for Strait's next album, tentatively scheduled for a March 2000 release. It so happened Jackson was in town at the time.
The country music concert circuit has received a much-needed lift this year thanks to successful tours by George Strait and Shania Twain. Ranked in terms of total dollars grossed, Strait and Twain, the only two country tours in the top 25, were ranked second and third, respectively.
According to leading concert trade publication Amusement Business, the seven-artist George Strait Country Music Fest grossed $32,377,406 in 17 shows and Shania Twain's current tour has grossed $27,314904 in 46 shows. The top-ranked Rolling Stones tour has grossed $87,362,860 in 44 shows.(source: Country Cool)

WRITE THIS DOWN has just collected 24 weeks in the Top 20 Chart and it's going to be very close to the previous (1989/90) record set by 'Overnight Success' (#8 and 26 weeks). The new album cut 'What Do You Say To That' is about to enter the top 20 (# 26 this week).
The GEORGE STRAIT's second seasonal album is scheduled for the next September 21 and the title will be 'Merry Christmas Wherever You Are': 10 tracks, 5 of them are Christmas traditionals (Jingle Bell Rock, Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow, The Christmas Song, All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth - ...is that the last GS wish left for the next Christmas?!- and... Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer!) and the other 5 are new songs just written for GS (Merry Christmas Wherever You Are, I Know What I Want For Christmas, Santa's On His Way, Old Time Christmas and Noel Leon).
Besides, Strait will be singing his new album cut-hit 'What Do You Say To That' at the 33rd Annual Country Music Association Awards on Wednesday, September 22. George's nominations are for 'Entertainer of the Year', 'Male Vocalist of the Year', and 'Album of the Year' (Always Never The Same).

WRITE THIS DOWN has collected 4 weeks at # 1 in a row
(this doesn't make it the very best STRAIT's #1, though
unless it goes up to the top once again...). 5 wks at #1 is the best result as for a STRAIT song ('Love Without End, Amen', 'I've Come To Expect It From You' and 'One Night At A Time'). Anyway, this is the 3rd STRAIT's song to stay at #1 for 4 wks (same achievement than 'Check Yes Or No' and 'Carrying Your Love With Me').
GEORGE STRAIT is going to record his second Christmas album which will be out in September. A further GS issue is said to be scheduled just before Christmas, a 'greatest hits' (1995-1999) album + 2 unreleased songs.
