Diabetes

Last year I was diagnosed with type-2 diabetes. A lot of you already understand what a shock this was to me. I went from denial to fright to thinking maybe the doctor had made a mistake and finally to acceptance. After accepting this life sentence, I began to study and the more I learned, the more I wanted to communicate with others and share ideas and support with those who had the same problem.

Here, I'd like to share what I have learned and also share what others care to contribute.

I thought this might be a good place to share recipes and other ideas such as hobbies, exercises, diets and whatever else we all think will help us to manage our diabetes and the stress associated with it.

Last year I spent two days in classes with some wonderful people at Wellstar Healthcare Systems in Marietta, Georgia who helped to put some of this in perspective and I'd like to share some of what I learned from them. These ladies conducted classes for diabetes education and I came away less scared and more determined to make a lifestyle change that will benefit both myself and my family.

So, feel free to email me if you want to contribute ideas, recipes, hobbies or anything at all connected with living well with diabetes or just plain living well.
